Coldwater fish require coldwater rivers, streams, and lakes. These habitats are very sensitive to changes in temperature and so are their associated fish 1. If a stream is too warm, a coldwater fish could take a much longer time to grow, have greater susceptability to poisons and parasites in the water (resulting in disease), and is likely to experience more anaerobic (low oxygen) conditions 1. This could result in mortality if a coldwater fish can not move to a colder stream. Common coldwater fish include Brook Trout in aquatic freshwater systems, and Atlantic Cod in marine systems.
