Raptors are more commonly known as birds of prey. These types of birds are incredibly powerful and they have very strong beaks for tearing the flesh of their prey. Raptors are predators, with great eyesight and large talons, but will willingly become scavengers if food is scarce 1. Well-known birds of prey include eagles, falcons, osprey, hawks, vultures, and owls.
